East Coast vessels
Urangan Fisheries operates 2 deep-water prawn trawlers working along the Queensland coastline from the Sunshine Coast through to Gladstone.
This is an environmentally friendly fishery operating 12 months of the year in water depths at 90-110 fathoms (540-660ft, 162-198m). These trawlers target schools of colossal premium Ocean King prawns. due to this depth of water these products are sourced from, they are recognized as one of the best prawn products in the world, large in size and very clean. All products are processed and packaged into 5kg set weight boxes and frozen in blast freezers on board.
Named the Angelina S and Alliance, these vessels are 18.36m (61.13ft) and 19.57m (65.16ft) respectively. They are decked out with all the modern conveniences of a modern day household to support our crew who are at sea for 30 day trips.
Torres Straits
Urangan fisheries also operates 5 large prawn trawling vessels in the Torres Straits. These vessels target Endeavour Prawn, Brown Tiger Prawns, Red Spot King Prawn and Banana Prawns. These are very large vessels which have the potential to work continuously for 30 nights. Like our East Coast Vessels these are highly modernized with all the creature comforts of a household for our crew. All products are processed and packaged on board by our highly trained and experienced crew and placed into our blast on board. In conjunction with prawn trawling in the Torres Strait, these vessels are used to harvest scallop within the Hervey Bay region.
